Question : How Does it Work?
Answer : Some web addresses are very long, complicated and difficult to remember. ComyoNet creates for you a short URL (with your own custom name if you choose to like this: http://comyonet.com/your-name/), making your new short URL easy to remember and to send without breaking in emails, bulletin Boards, Instant Messages, Blogs, forums, twitter etc...
As an example Say, your long url is:
http://www.some-site.com/some-folder/?some-id=something&some-other-option=something-else
your new short ComyoNet link will be like this:
http://comyonet.com/X
or if a custem name is used like this :
http://comyonet.com/your-name

In the guest area (users not signed in), the short links are either generated by our system or using the optional custom name entered by the user. Other optional information consists of a password and a warning message. The password must be entered by the visitor before redirecting to the original URL. The warning message will be displayed to the visitor before redirecting to the original URL, the user may cancel the opertaion after reading the message.

Question : Why Using ComyoNet URL?
Answer : There are many advantages of using ComyoNet URL:

- You can create your own ComyoNet URL with your own name, short and easy to remember (http://comyonet.com/your-name )

- You can use only one URL for all your websites, and group them (http://comyonet.com/your-name/group1 , http://comyonet.com/your-name/group2...)

- You can protect your private websites (downloads, ebooks, software, photos, profiles etc) with a password, only people with a password can visit and have access to your website using your ComyoNet URL.

- Track click statistics for all your websites, it is easy, and all at one place.

- One place for all your websites, easy to remember , to manage and to promote, because you need then to promote only your ComyoNet URL's (and group URL's if any) for all your websites added under your URL!

- You can display warning or any other message to your visitors before beeing redirected using your ComyoNet URL. Etc...

Question : Ok I am Logged in, What Now?
Answer : Signed in means that you have registered your own alias name as http://comyonet.com/your_name.
You can redirect your free ComyoNet URL (http://comyonet.com/your_name) to ANY existing website and access this web site through your short ComyoNet URL (http://comyonet.com/your_name) provided, no matter where your website is actually located or hosted. You just need to add a destination URL where your ComyoNet sub-domain (http://comyonet.com/your_name) would be redirected to. As an example Say, your website is:
http://www.some-site.com/some-folder/?some-id=something&some-other-option=something-else
To access it you just need to use your new ComyoNet sub-domain http://comyonet.com/your_name.
Your short ComyoNet URL is easy to remember (to use in stead of your own website) and to send and to promote without breaking in emails, bulletin Boards, Instant Messages, Blogs, forums, twitter etc and therefore to have access to detailed statistics in our system.

Question : Can I link more than one website to my alias?
Answer : There are two ways of linking websites to your ComyoNet alias:
under your principal ComyoNet alias (http://comyonet.com/your_alias) or under a sub-alias http://comyonet.com/your_alias/a_sub_alias/ if you need to identify, group or categorise your sites.
You can add one or more websites per alias and per sub alias. If you link more websites to your alias and/or a sub-alias, and those websites are activated (you can activate and disactivate added websites independently), a random website will be used, which results in shared traffic amoung your websites.
As an example:
Say your ComyoNet alias is http://comyonet.com/your_alias/ and you have placed two sites under this alias say http://www.site1.xxx/?id=1&x=9 and http://www.site2.xxx/?id=198&x=90, if now these websites are both activated, then your ComyoNet URL http://comyonet.com/your_alias/ will be redirected to one of these websites arbitrary. If only one site is activated, your ComyoNet URL will be redirected to that activated website.
An other example about using a sub alias:
Say your ComyoNet alias is http://comyonet.com/your_alias/ and you have added one sub alias (you may add as many as you wish) as http://comyonet.com/your_alias/a_sub_alias/, and you have placed two sites under this sub alias say http://www.site1.xxx/?id=1&x=9 and http://www.site2.xxx/?id=198&x=90, if now these websites are both activated, then your sub ComyoNet URL http://comyonet.com/your_alias/a_sub_alias/ will be redirected to one of these websites arbitrary. If only one site is activated, your sub ComyoNet URL will redirected to the activated website.

In Conclusion, you are able to:

- register one basic alias, say http://comyonet.com/your_alias/
- add one or many websites per alias
- add one or many sub aliases (to identify, group or categorise your sites) , say http://comyonet.com/your_alias/any_sub_alias.....
- add one or many websites per sub alias
- activate and desactivate websites independently

Question : What is path forwarding?
Answer : Another additional ComyoNet service, is the path forwarding. Path forwarding makes your ComyoNet URL and/or sub URL's work on any page of your site. An an example, say, your long url is:
http://www.a-free-host.com/~your_username/
and you created ComyoNet short link like this:
http://comyonet.com/your_alias
Now, with path forwarding, if you want to access pagex.html, say:
http://www.a-free-host.com/~your_username/pagex.html
All you'd have to do to access that exact page through your ComyoNet link is:
http://comyonet.com/X/pagex.html
Path forwarding works also to access pages at websites added under your sub aliases (http://comyonet.com/your_alias/a_sub_alias).

Question : How Does the ComyoNet Bookmarklet work?
Answer : ComyoNet provides a handy little tool, called a bookmarklet. The bookmarklet lets you instantly create short urls directly from the site you are visiting. So you don't have to go to the website and type in the long url every time you want to create a short url. All you have to do to install the bookmarklet like this: Drag and drop on your browser's links toolbar :

- Click and hold the left mouse button on this ComyoNet Bookmarklet link
- Drag the link to your browser's links toolbar
- Release the left mouse button to drop the link,

or if you want to add it to your favorites:

- Right click on this ComyoNet Bookmarklet link
- Select 'Add to Favorites' (or 'Bookmark this link')

Now you are able to instantly create short urls directly from the site you are visiting just by clicking the ComyoNet Bookmarklet on your browser's links toolbar or from your favorites.!

Question : Can I Manage (add, edit and delete) my websites?
Answer : Yes, registred users are able to add (as amany as they wish), edit, activate, desactivate and delete added websites.

Question : Can I track my links and view click statistics?
Answer : Yes, users are able to track links and to view detailed statistics about clicks just by adding ":" to the end of a link (even if with path forwarding) or by singing in.
Available Link Tracking Stats: clicks, locations (where visitors came from) and referrers (referring websites linking to your link). Many clicks of a visitor of the same link on the same day are counted only for one click, so only unique visitors are counted on daily basis (per link). Statistics about Links of signed users are not viewable by other users. Statistics about Quick links (Guest links) are publically viewable.
Usage example: comyonet.com/X: or comyonet.com/X/path/file: etc

Question : Can I preview the destination URL of a ComyoNet Link?
Answer : Yes, Users are able to preview the destination URL just by adding "?" to the end of any ComyoNet link (even if with path forwarding) not protected with a password. Protected links with a password are redirected only after entering the password anyway.
Usage example: comyonet.com/X? or comyonet.com/X/path/file? etc

Question : Can I protect my link with a password and/or enter a (warning) message for my visitors?
Answer : Yes, You are able to protect any of your links with a password. The password must be entered by the visitor before being redirected to your destination URL.
